This collection was inspired by the Spoonflower Design Challenge, Ice Cream Truck.
With summer heating up, I began to look up different kinds of ice cream trucks on Pinterest.
I loved the vintage trucks, and I wanted to draw all of them. However, for the sake of time, I decided to create a better quality truck by focusing on one than several so-so ones.
This truck with the dripping ice cream stood out to me that most.
This project I designed directly in Adobe Illustrator, not Procreate. It’s been a little while since I vectorized my art, so I greatly enjoyed flying through my hotkeys and rounding perfect edges.
Once my truck was done, I found inspiration for ice cream cones. Seeing the mint chocolate chip popsicles was very inspiring! I knew I had to add it to this collection. I also wanted to add watermelon pops because watermelon has always been a summer icon.
Ice Cream Truck Surface Pattern Collection
Overall, I’m pretty happy with this collection. I would be more thrilled to see a little girl’s dress made from these patterns or a fun school teacher dressed in the watermelon fade. I think there is a lot of potentials for this collection to be marketed well. Hopefully for the summer of 2021. 🙂
Which one is your favorite? What are you inspired to make with these designs? Please let me know. 🙂
