Have you seen a typeface that you loooove, but you have no idea how to find it? Perhaps you recognize a font, but you simply cannot name it exactly… I experience font identity crisis almost daily. I’ll tell you How to Find a Font with free online search software called Whatthefont.com. It’s easy, fast, you can do it yourself, and you don’t need a graphic designer. Well, besides the one explaining this blog post. ?
To solve this missing font mystery, I use Whatthefont.com.
Whatthefont.com has an algorithm that identifies the shape of the letters and matches the letters from a font database. I have a high success rate, though it does struggle to identify cursive letters.
How to Find a Font with “What the Font?”
1. Simply upload an image of the font. (I usually take screenshots.)
Clarify each of the letters.
Click the continue button.
In less than a second, the software has given you several possibilities. Amazing right!
Whatthefont.com will lead you to myfonts.com where you can purchase the fonts, but be sure to check your own font library to make sure you don’t already have it.
That’s it! Happy Font Hunting!
