Arriving in Valencia – Day 3

Valencia Art Museum

After a long night sleeping at the airport, I boarded the plane and off I went. I basically slept the whole flight as I was arriving in Valencia.

It took a while for my bag to arrive, but once I received it I found my taxi driver and he took me to my host family. I wanted to talk to the taxi driver, but I knew that I wouldn’t be able to understand him. So, I got nervous and sat quietly while I watched out the window. I just wanted to absorb everything that is now surrounded me.

Meeting the Family

I met the husband first before he left. I didn’t have a WiFi password. So, I couldn’t tell people I arrived. I honestly didn’t know what to do with myself at this point. I was so tired and really wanted to shower.

I was definitely thinking, “What on earth did I get myself into?” I started unpacking when the wife and grandmother arrived. Yay! Sabina, my host mom is very nice. šŸ™‚ Like super nice! She gave me bed sheets and had the kids quiet down so I could rest. I took a nap for 3 hours. šŸ™‚

I talked with Sabina for a while, then she made lunch and it was crazy delicious! Then she gave me a WiFi password! YAY!

Eating with the kids was something. They just wanted to play, and they couldn’t understand that I couldn’t understand what they were saying. I hope I will be able to talk to them more soon. They always have Disney Junior playing on the TV. It’s cool that Disney is in Spanish too.

Walking Around the Art Museum

After lunch, I walked around and I saw the most beautiful art museum ever. I have no idea how I didn’t know about it before. I walked around it, and then I tried to find my school, but I couldn’t find it.

Keep in mind that as soon as I leave the house I don’t have WiFi. Thankfully, a nearby mall had free WiFi. šŸ™‚ I was able to connect to Google maps and look up directions back to the house.

When I got back Sabina said that if I take the bus it’s very fast to get to the school and she can show me now. Sabina, her son Neizan (like Nathon), and I hopped on the bus to find the school. She was so sweet. Even though I can’t talk very well, she doesn’t make me feel stupid.

I honestly think that I wouldn’t have been able to find the school if she didn’t take me. She is so kind! It was tucked away, and the sign doesn’t say Euroace.

Now, I’m sitting in my room waiting for dinner. šŸ™‚ I’m getting used to the hours that they eat. It’s quater to 9 pm, but it’s okay because I’m sure that it will be similar to lunch and be delicious!

I’m happy to follow up on messages from friends and family. Tomorrow I hope to begin working on client work and pattern designs and ordering my first coffee. šŸ™‚
